Pandora, a pedagogic dance game.

May 6, 2008

A workshop to practice theory and theorize practice on and around dance using the game of Pandora.

Pandora, a pedagogic dance game.

This game proposes a pedagogic alternative of transferring the knowledge of dance and movement, based on four thematic lines which randomly are combined offering a frame for the choreographic act.

Pandora has been created and developed from the need of re-thinking and questioning the pedagogic act within the dance field, specifically the contemporary dance; developing the learning process in a playful way, responsible and respectful, non competitive nor sexist, and working towards inclusion rather than exclusion, towards the constructive critique and reflection.

This game looks for a practice that includes, without separation, the technique of dance, the performance, the movement research and the dance all together; working towards a multitasking situation, waking up the consciousness of the player / dancer, activating all the senses and practicing the learned tools.

Pandora is a pedagogic method, useful for the transfer and practice of dance, but can be used as well as a performing method for the choreographic creation. It is simply a method that anyone can use, the way here proposed or inventing a new one that adapts to his / her needs.

Pandora has been created and developed with the support of La Caldera (www.lacaldera.info)
